Achievements Connaught Bowls Club 2018

It has again been a very successful year for Connaught bowlers:

Men:       Walthamstow & District Bowls Association:

Simon Shield - our men won the prestigious Walthamstow & District Simon Shield. 9 local clubs competed for it this year. It is a very large shield trophy so not sure where we are to display it yet!

Thursday 4’s – our ‘B’ team had a very good season finishing second in Division 3 and being promoted to Division 2 next season where they will play against our ‘A’ team.

Foresters League – for the third year running Connaught won the Forester’s trophy which was presented to us at a dinner attended by representatives from the nine participating clubs.

Ladies’:  The Albert Ernstzen Shield – was won this year by our Ladies competing against 7 other clubs

The Colbert Cup – our Ladies won this prestigious trophy competing against 11 other clubs.

Mixed:    Hospital Charity Triples – played between Connaught, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Woodford was won again this year by Connaught. Tim Mould, Maggie Dexter and Marilyn Trentham were our successful trio. A large amount of money is raised each year for local charities.

Walthamstow & District Mixed Triples League – our 2 teams came second in Pool A and won Pool B. Our Pool B winners lost in the final play off against Loughton – Irene McGuigan, James Hill & Sylvia Bloomfield. Other team members Janet Gray, Jackie Weiss and Melvin Grant.

Senior Singles – James Wilson (last 32)

Senior Pairs – James Wilson and Tim Mould (last 16)

Essex County Competitions:

Over 55’s Fours – Stuart Gibson, Larry Stone, James Wilson and Tim Mould (runners-up in the final)

Walthamstow & District Competitions:

Champion of Champions - James Wilson (runner-up in the final)

Over 55’s Singles - James Wilson (runner-up in the final)

Men’s Fours – Tim Mould, Melvin Grant, Mark Townsend and Brian Fabbri (runners-up in the final)

Veterans – Roy Lott (runner-up in the final)
