Located within the heart of Epping Forest the Bowls Club has one of the finest greens in Essex with seven rinks available seven days a week including five mornings. The club was founded in 1909 and celebrates its centenary year in 2009.

There are purpose built Men's and Ladies pavilions and a tea hut with grandstand seating for the exclusive use of the bowlers. The club currently has about 110 members with almost equal numbers of men and women.

Club Members

We take pride in the fact that many of our members have attained high County and National success but, just as importantly, we take pride in our reputation for good hospitality and genuine friendliness and we offer a warm welcome to players of all standards.

Qualified coaches offer all new members introductory classes as prescribed by the English Bowls Coaching Scheme and are available to help more experienced bowlers.

Connaught Ladies were semi-Finalists in the National Top Club competition in 2008 and Finalists in the Albert Crabb County Double Rink competition. They were also runners up in the Saban League.

Jim Wilson and Tim Mould both have both represented Essex in the Middleton Cup. Connaught Men were semi-Finalists in the Essex County Shield while Jim Wilson reached the semi-Finals of the Essex Singles and only prevented from going to Worthing by injury. We were Finalists in the London & Southern Counties Triples.
