The Connaught Club is situated in a beautiful position deep in the heart of Epping Forest on the borders of Essex and the borough of Waltham Forest. Historical research has shown that the original courts belonged to The Royal Forest Hotel and The Connaught was established as an independent club in 1885.
The club has gone through a number of changes over its 123 year history. It was originally formed as The Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. In 1910 the Bowls Section was introduced with the laying of a bowls green in place of a concrete tennis court. In 1939 the croquet section was disbanded and in 1970 the club responded to the boom in the game of squash by starting the Squash Section.
From its inception, the club has existed purely as a members club and during its history has maintained a high standard of performance in all three disciplines, producing a stream of high quality club, county and international players. This continues today with excellent coaching in all three sports.
