Taking place every Thursday morning during the winter months, Knit & Chat is open to all members with tuition provided to anyone who has never knitted before.
This is a great way to meet other members of the Club and to get together for a chat and socialise with other members, with many staying on for lunch afterwards.
During the most recent winter the group knitted tiny hats and bootees for premature babies and donated to the maternity wing of the Basildon Hospital. In addition ‘bonding squares’ were sent to ‘Tiny Tickers’; one is worn by the mother and the other by the baby, they are then changed from one to the other daily to help with the bonding process. More than 70 hats were made for Club Members and over 60 Easter Chicks were successfully hatched!
The Knit and Chat Group raised a total of £1,142.18 for Macmillan Nurses through the sale of knitted items, donations and a raffle.
The Group will be starting up again in October.
